Fishing is really good in the Laguna Madre right now!! We are targeting schooling redfish as well as larger speckled trout with Chartreuse Devil Eyes using 1/8 oz Tru-Loc jig heads. There are three large schools of redfish in the Upper Laguna and still lots of nice trout along the drops. Start out early looking for large wakes indicating the schools in 2-3 ft. of water over sand grass mix.
For trout look for slicks or flipping baitfish along edges of breaks where water deoths change from 2-3ft to 5-6 ft. We are fishing for the trout using a very slow bounce then another bounce, and then a pause for a 4 count retreive. When you locate a school of redfish, approach then from the up-wind side and try to pull fish from the edges of the school. Your retreive needs to be fast then just before the redfish gets it, make a sudden pause and set the hook.
Good luck and get hooked.
