Baffin Bay Big Trout report & tips with Capt. Jim Onderdonk

Capt. Jim Onderdonk joins us today with a report on some heavy speckled trout that he has been catching in Baffin Bay this week. It looks like big fish are still there to be caught, and according to “Donk” they should still be good sized into May. If you want to know more about catching big trout in legendary Baffin Bay be sure to listen to this special podcast, because Jim has a TON of information to share. Him and Jake cover everything from water conditions, to salinity, colors and types of lures to use, as well as how to present your lure. Lately Donk has moved to throwing more dark colored soft plastics and dragging them on the bottom while wade fishing. Braided line is also helping with their presentation, but look out for the rocks.

For those of you with a swimming pool in your backyard, Jim also has some great tips that you can practice at home. It is a great way to watch the action of your lure and to get a feel for the sink rate.

If you are looking to catch some big trout and redfish for yourself, Capt. Donk’s lodge is a great place to start. Check out the Poco Loco Lodge at http://www.pocolocolodge.com/, or give them a call at 361-325-4551.
